Misfit Blades?
My name is Joe Turley and I began my bladesmith journey 6 years ago. I've spent the past 6 years gleaning wisdom from other smiths and educating myself in metallurgy, edge geometry and ergonomics; driven by passion, faith and encouragement from my friends and family. I'm honored and grateful to share my journey with you as I continue to learn. My hope is that I will inspire others to begin their journey!
I was once a homeless, hopeless addict of close to 15 years, but found freedom in June 2015. My wife and I operate a small non-profit organization that aims to impact the lives of anyone looking for a new way of life.
I've collected knives from a young age, and I recall how the industry of knifemaking changed as the economy fluctuated. My desire is to help other smiths restore the quality, value and longevity of handmade knives back to the knifemaking world, so that you, as the consumer, can enjoy and appreciate functioning forms of artistry that will last generations.
